Register Your Computer
Note: If you are enrolled in 'Fall 2020 06-323-Heat and Mass Transfer' and submitted your computer name via the survey, you can proceed to the next step 'Download Comsol'
If your computer is a department issued laptop you are pre-registered, however you must change the computer name to match your unit ID. The unit ID is on the bottom and has the form CHE##-###.
Comsol Flow Simulation
In order to use Comsol you must first register your computer name with ChemE Computing. To do this simply email your Computer Name and a description of your work (Class or Research) to the ChemE Helpdesk at cheme-computing@andrew.cmu.edu
Find Your Computer Name on Windows
To find your computer name on windows first open the 'Control Panel'. The open the 'System' section either by clicking on 'System' if in icon view or 'System and Security -> System' if in category view
Find Your Computer Name on Mac
To find your computer name on Mac, first open System Preferences and then 'Sharing'. Locate the Network Name in the text under the Computer Name field as below:

Installation Instructions
**Do NOT attempt to install with a 'License Key' or 'License File' This will not work.
1. Download the comsol installer Zip file above and extract the ISO file. Mount the ISO file by Right-Clicking on it and choosing 'mount' (windows) or double-clicking on it (mac). Run the Comsol Installer 'setup.exe' on Windows or 'Install for Mac OSX' on Mac.
2. Select a language. Click Next.
3. Select New COMSOL Installation.
Tripp lite port devices driver. 4. When prompted for license information, use the drop-down menu labeled license format and select <port number>@<host name>. Input 1718 for the port number and licensing.cheme.cmu.edu for the host name. Click Next. Tevii driver download for windows.
5. Select the platforms to install. Click Next.
6. When prompted for feature selection uncheck License Manager. Click Next.
7. Select the options you wish to install. Click Next.
8. Press Install. The installation process may take 10-15 minutes to complete. Depending on your computer, you may be prompted to install additional components. Complete their installation processes and it will continue installing COMSOL.
9. Once complete, click Finish to quit the installer. COMSOL Multiphysics should now be ready for use.
